Website cost in Finland 2026: a full comparison of the options

A ready made website package currently costs 199-390 € a year. Agencies publish package prices between 750 and 9,900 €, and built yourself the cost lands at 4-27 € a month. Prices have fallen sharply in recent years, but the cheapest and the most expensive are not the same product. A 199 € package is enough for some businesses and not for others, which makes comparing the options laborious. Below are the comparison, the hidden costs and a calculator.

What a website costs in Finland

This comparison lists vendors' public prices by name, grouped by who builds the site. Every figure is read from the vendor's own price page, and the source link on each row leads to that same page. The three year column matters most, because it shows what a site costs in total once the setup fee and the maintenance are added together.

Prices have fallen fast. AI driven agencies sell a whole site for under a thousand euros, and some traditional agencies sell fixed annual packages at 199-390 €. At the same time the same product is priced anywhere from 199 € to 9,900 € in this data, and the difference is not apparent from the quoted price.

Prices are shown as each vendor publishes them, and every row states the basis: incl. VAT, VAT 0 %, or that the vendor does not say. Finnish hosts and agencies almost always quote VAT 0 %, while Kotisivukone and Planeetta include VAT. Finnish VAT is 25.5 %.

  • Build it yourself with AI: you get a site fast, but free tiers are metered hard and publishing on your own domain requires either a paid plan or the command line.
  • Website builders: you get an editor, hosting and SSL in the monthly price, but the site cannot leave the platform, and the lowest prices require yearly or four-year billing.
  • Finnish hosts: you get server space and Finnish language support, but building and maintaining the site is yours unless you also buy a site builder on top.
  • Package and AI agencies: you get a finished site built for you at a fixed price, typically on a 12 month contract and with a capped page count.
  • Freelancers and traditional agencies: you get made to order work, design and often search engine optimisation, paid as a one-off fee or by the hour.
  • Kotisivukamu: you get an AI built site, hosting and editing in the monthly price, and the source code on request. The domain is bought separately.

Each column is the band’s lowest and highest value across different rows, not one vendor’s bill: the highest setup fee and the highest monthly price are usually different products, and the three year figure is a per-row total, not the product of the two. Running price is per month at the price a plan renews at, not at a campaign price. Setup, the totals and the portability column come from the detailed tables below; launch times are the ones vendors publish, and the hours are an estimate. Each option shows prices in the VAT basis its vendors publish, so the rows are not exactly comparable with one another.

Free options and their limits

Free websites genuinely exist, but on consumer services the address is a platform subdomain and the page carries the platform’s own badge or ads. Three years cost 0 €, and the cheapest verified step up to a custom domain is 57-198 € over three years.

What makes up the price of a website?

The price is made up of six parts. Once you know what each of them costs, quotes are easier to compare.

Design and layout

Made to measure, 500-3,000 €. A ready made theme or template costs 0-100 €, in which case the site looks like the others using the same template. With AI builders the design comes as part of the package and is not priced separately.

Content and copy

Professionally written copy costs 300-1,500 € per site and photography 300-800 €. This is the part that often goes undone and delays the launch.

Technical build

Coding the templates, forms, the mobile version and the technical work search engines expect. An agency charges 1,000-5,000 €; in website builders and AI services this is part of the monthly price.

Maintenance and hosting

Server space, backups, the SSL certificate and updates. Finnish hosting costs 1.90-60 € a month at VAT 0 %, and agency maintenance contracts 15-300 € a month. In website builders and AI services upkeep is part of the monthly price.

Domain name

A .fi address costs 12-26 € a year, even though Traficom charges every reseller the same 12 € wholesale price. It is always a separate cost, and it is worth registering in the company's own name.

Changes after launch

Updating a price list or adding a service page is bought from an agency by the hour, and published hourly rates are 60-85 € at VAT 0 %. In AI services a change costs a few cents of metered balance, and in website builders you do it yourself.

The usual hidden costs

Unexpected costs usually appear only after the first year. They are worth asking about before signing a contract.

  • The promotional price ending. Many platforms sell the first year at a discount, and the promotional price is often tied to a long prepayment. Hostinger's 2.99 €/mo requires paying 48 months up front and renews at 9.99 €/mo. The standard price and the length of the prepayment are worth checking before ordering.
  • Changes billed by the hour. A small text change is often billed as a full hour. A few updates a year adds up to hundreds of euros.
  • Plugins and licences. On WordPress a form, a booking calendar and SEO are often paid plugins, €50-300 a year each.
  • Mailboxes. Email on your own domain typically costs €2-6 per user a month, and it is not part of a website package.
  • Who owns the domain. If the domain is registered in the agency's name, transferring it can cost extra. The domain is worth registering in your own company's name from the start.
  • A rebuild in a few years. A site bought as a one-off project ages. Three or four years later you face another project at the same price.
  • Metered editing. In services edited with AI, editing is metered. Credits, balance or tokens run out if you update the site a lot, and more is bought separately. It is worth asking what the amount included in the monthly price is enough to do.

What is the cheapest a website can cost?
