Privacy policy

We are transparent about how we handle data on our site.

Visitor analytics

We use lightweight visitor analytics on our site to improve the service. The tracking is fully anonymous. No personal data is stored.

What we collect

  • Page views: which pages are popular
  • Referring page: where visitors come from (for example a search engine)
  • Country: the location is derived from the IP address, after which the IP address is stored only in fully anonymised form
  • Device type: mobile, tablet or desktop
  • Browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari and so on

What we do not collect

  • IP addresses are stored only in anonymised form (to derive the country)
  • Cookies are not used for tracking
  • Visitors are not personally identified
  • Data is not shared with third parties

Deriving the country from the IP address

The visitor’s country is derived from the IP address locally on our own servers by comparing it with the DB-IP IP-to-Country Lite database (licensed under CC BY 4.0). After the lookup the IP address is discarded, and only a two-letter country code is stored with the page view. We do not derive the city, region, coordinates or internet provider. The IP address is never sent to DB-IP or any other third party. The same lookup is also used in the visitor analytics of customer sites built with Kotisivukamu. IP Geolocation by DB-IP

Contact form

When you send the contact form, we collect the following:

  • Your name, email address and the content of your message
  • The phone number and company name, if you give them

How the data is used

We use your data only to reply to your message. We do not use it for marketing and do not disclose it to third parties.

How long the data is kept

We keep contact requests for as long as the business needs them.

Cookies

Our site does not use tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel or other third-party tracking tools.

The site may use strictly necessary cookies to provide its features, but these do not track your behaviour across sites.

Personal data on customer sites

For customer sites built with the Kotisivukamu service, Kontakto Oy acts as the processor of personal data (GDPR, Article 28). The owner of the customer site is the controller. We process customer site data only to provide the service, including:

  • Receiving contact form submissions and forwarding them to the site owner
  • Anonymised visitor analytics for the site owner
  • Technical maintenance and backups of the site

The data is processed within the EU/EEA. We do not use customer site data for our own purposes and do not disclose it to third parties.

Your rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to:

  • Request access to the data concerning you
  • Request that your data be corrected or erased
  • Object to the processing of your data
  • Lodge a complaint with the data protection authority
