A WordPress alternative without maintenance worries
WordPress is flexible but needs constant upkeep. With Kotisivukamu the technology is handled for you.
WordPress is the most popular content management system in the world. It powers over 40 percent of all websites and can be used to build almost anything. That flexibility has a price: a WordPress site needs web hosting, a theme, plugins, and continuous updates and security care.
In practice many small businesses pay for their WordPress site twice: first for the build, then for ongoing maintenance handled by an agency or IT partner. If updates are skipped, the site slows down and security holes stay open.
Kotisivukamu works differently. The Kamu AI builds the site for you, and the site is compiled into static files at publish time. There is no server, plugin stack or database to update, so there are no maintenance worries either. Content changes are requested from Kamu in your own words.
Kotisivukamu vs. WordPress
| Kotisivukamu | WordPress | |
|---|---|---|
| Who builds the site | The Kamu AI builds the site for you in about 30 minutes | You or a hired partner build the site with a theme and plugins |
| Editing | Request changes in your own words: in Studio, the dashboard or over WhatsApp | You edit in the admin panel or pay a partner for changes |
| Technical maintenance | Included in the service: updates, backups and certificates are handled automatically | Your responsibility: updates, plugins, security and backups |
| Performance | Static, pre-built site. Almost always a perfect 100/100 Google Lighthouse score | Depends on hosting, theme and plugins, often heavy |
| Visitor limits | No visitor limits | Many hosts have visitor or resource limits |
| Visitor analyticsincluded in the price | Included and switched on from day one. Cookieless and privacy-respecting, so no consent banner is needed. Visitors, sources and top pages in real time | Not included as standard. You install a plugin or Google Analytics yourself, and cookie-based tracking needs a consent banner |
| Visibility in search engines and AI answersSEO and GEO | A static, semantic site with structured data (JSON-LD) written in, so search engines and AI answers can read it as it is. The dashboard tells you whether the site is listed, and we help with the business profile | Handled with plugins that you have to choose, configure and keep updated |
| Pricing | From €3.90/mo, everything included | Billed in pieces: hosting typically 9–19 €/month at normal prices, maintenance services 30–150 €/month, and a purchased build typically 500–2,000 € or more |
| Service and support | Finnish company, support in Finnish and English | Depends on your hosting provider and partner |
Prices were checked in August 2026 and may change. Check current prices on the provider’s own site. All the options are priced side by side in a dated comparison, agencies and hosting included: what a website costs.
Why a static site wins on speed
WordPress builds the page on the server for each visitor, or serves it from a cache. That constant conversation between browser and server takes resources and is the main reason so many sites have become heavy. Kotisivukamu sites are compiled in advance, so the visitor gets the page instantly. Speed shows directly in search rankings and user experience.
When is WordPress still the right choice?
If you need highly specialised functionality, a large online store, or you have your own development team, the WordPress ecosystem is strong. For most small businesses, though, a fast, beautiful and easily updated site is enough, and that is what Kotisivukamu is built for.
Analytics and AI visibility are part of it
Visitor analytics are included and running from the first day. They are cookieless: we set no tracking cookies and use no third-party trackers, so the site needs no consent banner and visitors have nothing to click away. You still see how many people came, where from and which pages hold their attention, in real time. In most other services analytics are bolted on with something like Google Analytics, and a cookie banner and consent management come with it.
The same goes for being found. The sites are static and semantic, and structured data (JSON-LD) is written in from the start, so Google and AI answers such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI overviews can make sense of the site without any plugins. This is what GEO, generative engine optimisation, amounts to, and it is largely the same work as good SEO: a fast page, a clear structure and machine-readable facts about the business. The dashboard shows whether the site is listed, and we help with the Google Business Profile too.
Common questions
Can I get the source code?
Yes. The site is a standard Astro codebase in version control and you can have it on request. If you ever move elsewhere you can take the site with you, but you never have to maintain it while the subscription runs.
Does the site need a cookie banner?
No. Kotisivukamu sites use no tracking cookies and no third-party trackers, so there is nothing to consent to and no banner to show. Visitor analytics are still included: traffic, sources and top pages in real time.
Will the site be found on Google and in AI search?
The sites are static and semantic, and structured data is written in from the start, so both search engines and AI answers can read the site as it is. The dashboard shows whether the site is indexed, and we help with the Google Business Profile too.
