Sanity on a Kotisivukamu site
Sanity is a headless content management system: content is written in Sanity Studio and stored in Sanity’s service, but it is shown somewhere else, such as a website or an app. You define the content structure yourself, for example products, events or people.
How it works on Kotisivukamu
Content written in Sanity, such as blog posts, references or events, shows on the site as ordinary pages with the same look as the rest of the site. Writers keep working in Sanity Studio and never need to touch the site.
The connection needs a Sanity read token. Give the key to Kamu in the chat or add it in the dashboard under Integraatiot > Lisää avain. The key is used only while the site is built and never shows on the site. The content is fetched from the service every time the site is published. If you like, Kamu can also refresh it automatically once a day. So Sanity suits content that does not change by the minute, such as a blog or an event list.
Step by step
- Create an API token for the project in Sanity’s management (sanity.io/manage) with read access (Viewer).
- Give the token and the project ID to Kamu, or add the token under Integraatiot > Lisää avain.
- Say which Sanity content is shown and on which pages.
- Check the preview and publish.

Does a change made in Sanity show on the site straight away?
Not straight away. It shows the next time the site is published, or the next day if the automatic refresh is on. If the information must always be current, such as free places or stock levels, link to a service that shows it in real time.
What does Sanity cost?
Sanity bills you directly. Check the plans and usage limits on the service’s own pages.
Do I need Sanity just to edit the site’s texts?
No. The texts of a Kotisivukamu site can be edited in Studio or by asking Kamu. Sanity is worth it when there is a lot of content, it is also used elsewhere, or it is produced by a team that already uses Sanity.
