Google Sheets on a Kotisivukamu site
Google Sheets is the most familiar way for many to keep a list: a price list, a lunch menu, an event calendar or a product range. When the list is already in a spreadsheet, it can be shown on the site so that updates are made only in the spreadsheet.
How it works on Kotisivukamu
The rows show on the page as a list or a table in the site’s own style, and they work on a phone like the rest of the page. The sheet is published from Google as CSV, so no key is needed. The content is fetched from the service every time the site is published. If you like, Kamu can also refresh it automatically once a day. Keep the column names the same, because the page reads the rows by them.
Step by step
- Give the sheet clear columns, for example Day, Dish and Price, and one row per item.
- In Google, choose File > Share > Publish to web, pick the tab and CSV as the format, and copy the link.
- Give the link to Kamu and say which page the data goes on.
- Check the preview and publish. From then on, editing the sheet is enough.

Google Sheets: frequently asked questions
Does the spreadsheet have to be public?
Yes. Anyone who knows the link can read the published tab, so publish only a tab whose data may show on the site. Your other tabs and files stay private.
Does a change show on the site straight away?
Not straight away. It shows the next time the site is published, or the next day if the automatic refresh is on. If the information must always be current, such as free places or stock levels, link to a service that shows it in real time.
Can the spreadsheet be embedded as it is?
It can, but an embedded sheet looks like a spreadsheet app rather than your site. As the site’s own list, the data looks like the site, works better on a phone and can be found in search engines.
