The widget is fetched from Trustpilot every time the page opens. It is worth checking its effect on page speed and any cookie use, and if needed the widget is put behind cookie consent. The lightest option is a plain link to your Trustpilot page.
Trustpilot is more common among online shops and businesses selling internationally than among local service businesses. For a local business, Google reviews are often more important, because they show in Maps. Before asking, check that the profile already has reviews, because an empty widget tells the visitor nothing.

Some widgets are available on a free account and some only on paid plans. The range changes, so check it on Trustpilot’s own pages.
Can the Trustpilot score be marked up as the site’s own rating?
No. Under Google’s guidelines only reviews the site has collected itself are marked up as its own rating, not reviews from another service. The widget shows the score to visitors, but it is not marked up in the background data.
Is Trustpilot worth it for a local service business?
Finnish consumers mostly leave reviews of local services on Google. If your customers are mainly local, linking to your Google reviews may be enough. Trustpilot is more useful for an online shop or a business whose customers are spread across Finland or abroad.
