Google Maps on a Kotisivukamu site
Google Maps is the most common way to show where a business is. A map helps customers especially when the address alone does not tell them where the entrance is.
How it works on Kotisivukamu
The map is a standard part of the site, usually on the contact page. It is a Google Maps map that shows the location based on the business name and address. The address comes from the site’s business details, the same place as the address in the footer and in the background data for search engines.
The map loads only when the visitor scrolls to it, so it does not slow the page from opening. The map is not currently behind cookie consent, unlike tracking tags. If your company’s privacy policy requires it, say so, and the map is shown only after consent.
Step by step
- Check that the site’s business details have the correct street address and postcode.
- Search for your business on Google Maps and make sure the marker is in the right place. If not, correct the location in your Google Business Profile.
- If you want the map somewhere other than the contact page, tell Kamu where.
- Write a short note next to the map, for example about the entrance or parking. The map does not tell those.
Google Maps: frequently asked questions
Does the map cost anything?
Not separately. The map is part of the site.
What if my business has no premises?
Then no map is needed. If you work at the customer’s place, it is worth stating your service area in words on the page, for example the municipalities you work in.
Try it yourself
Describe your business and the services you already use, and Kamu builds the site in about half an hour. You pay only when you take the site into use on your own domain.
