YouTube on a Kotisivukamu site
YouTube is the most common home for a business’s videos: introductions, how-tos, references and workout videos. A video often explains a service faster than text.
How it works on Kotisivukamu
The video is embedded in the page with YouTube’s own player. YouTube sets cookies, so the player falls under the cookie banner. Before consent, the video’s place shows a box that explains why the video is missing, with a button that opens the cookie settings. Once the visitor accepts cookies, the player is created on the page. Before that, no YouTube code is loaded and no visitor data goes to YouTube.
The video stays on YouTube, so the views show in your channel statistics. The embed adapts to the screen width and works on a phone. If the video is deleted or made private on YouTube, it stops showing on the site too.
Step by step
- Open the video on YouTube and copy its address from the Share button.
- Check that the video’s visibility is public or unlisted and that embedding is allowed in the video settings.
- Give Kamu the video address and where it goes, for example "Add this video to the front page below the services".
- Check the preview on a phone: the box should show before consent, and the video should play once cookies are accepted.

YouTube: frequently asked questions
Do other channels’ videos show after the video ends?
YouTube may show recommendations at the end. These days they mostly come from the same channel, but YouTube decides that itself. If you want a player without recommendations, Vimeo is one option.
Can the video be added to the site without YouTube?
A short one can. Long videos are best kept on YouTube, because it takes care of adapting the quality to the connection speed.
