Instagram on a Kotisivukamu site
Many businesses show their work on Instagram: salons their cuts, restaurants their dishes and photographers their pictures. Customers often look on the website for where to find the profile.
How it works on Kotisivukamu
The site footer has links to the business’s social channels, and an Instagram link can be added elsewhere too, for example to the gallery or the contact details. For most businesses this is enough. The link opens the profile on Instagram and loads no Meta code into the page.
The Instagram feed can also be shown on the page, but we do not add it by default. A feed slows the page, and visitor data goes to Meta as soon as the page loads, so it needs cookie consent. If a feed is wanted, it loads only after the visitor has accepted cookies. It is often better to add your best pictures to the site’s own gallery, where they load fast and are visible to search engines.
Step by step
- Copy your profile address, in the form instagram.com/username.
- Give the address to Kamu. Links to social channels are stored in the site’s business details, which the footer shows.
- If you want the link elsewhere too, say where, for example "Add a link to Instagram at the end of the gallery".
- Check in the preview that the link opens the right profile.
Instagram: frequently asked questions
Can I show my Instagram feed on the site?
It is possible but rarely needed. A feed slows the page and needs cookie consent, because visitor data goes to Meta. If a feed is wanted, it loads only after the visitor has accepted cookies.
Do Instagram pictures update on the site by themselves?
No, unless the feed is embedded. The pictures in the site’s gallery are changed by asking Kamu. For many that is enough, since the gallery is best kept to your strongest and most lasting pictures anyway.
